Getting Started In "The Ironclads"
Step One: Understand the Crew
  • Youth Crew members must be 14-20 years old
  • Adult members are welcome as advisors
  • Read the Mission Statement
  • Read the Expectations and Goals
  • Determine if Venturing is right for you!
Step Two: Try it out
  • Look at the Event schedule
  • Contact either the Adult Advisor or the Crew President for which event you would like to attend.
  • Give your approximate clothing size
Step Three: Complete the application and pay the fees
  • Complete the Venture Application form
  • Complete the medical forms with adult signature
  • Write out checks for the Crew fees
  • Mail documents (or hand them) to the Crew Advisor "

Step Four: Purchase basic equipment
  • Every member has one year to attain their basic kit "
    • Loaner uniforms & equipment may be used during 1st year
  • Military members of the crew are to buy
    • Light Blue Trousers & Dark Blue 4 button Sack Coat
    • White Muslin Shirt, Socks, and Suspenders
    • Canteen w/blue cover, US Belt w/ brass keeper, and Dark Blue Forage Cap
    • Brogans
    • Period plate, fork, spoon, knife, and cup
  • Civilian members are to buy
    • The clothing necessary for your impression (consult with the civilian coordinator)
    • Period plate, fork, spoon, knife, and cup
    • Canteen or water container (period or not)
